The diary of a Beaderholic......

The diary of a Beaderholic………
As of right at this very moment, my entire household has all but one gone to dreamland and back and off to new once… In fact my entire neighbourhood has died down with the level of noise emission is at the very bottom of a reading, all I hear is distant sound of vehicles passing by and faded away soon after. What a bless to have this window of opportunity to be able to soak in the ambient and simply go with the flow.
Times like this is rare and far in between, so I usually would grab my beloved  ASUS either to catch up with FB or just cruising along the net. Tonight though, I have chosen to write my journal. My entry goes like this…
Date: June 20 2011, Monday
Morning: sent my son to school, drop by the bank to make a withdrawal, and went to the market and back. Had breakfast, took my meds, prep the groceries…
Mid morning: contractors came to continue with water-proofing upstairs bathroom and left soon after with the house looking like a battle field, cooked lunch, cleaned up the house and owner followed suit, got ready to work (Mdm Shin’s 4th piece Terengganu crepe kurung modern bead works)…
Afternoon: still at work (beading while listening to BBC news this time), made/received calls, continued working until my gluteus maximus felt numb from hours of sitting down, my deltoids and trapezoids were in serious agony from non-stop beading while looking down hours on end…must press on..
Evening: R&R (recharge & refuel), catching up time in fast forward mode, back to work, had dinner, much needed coffee, reviewing my latest acquisition of beads in awe (from my last visit to KL)..…
Night: attempted to clean my work station from previous beading work, hated this part of the job…, still cleaning my work area, gave up and decided to watch movie on line instead.. called my sis and her hubby to come over, plugged-in HDMI and so we watched Children of Men... The family went to bed, worked a bit more but decided to continue on Mdm Shin’s tomorrow after dentist appointment… Let’s  call it a night…………..

There!!!!!! Honest to goodness, I say it’s the most fun day I’ve had in a long time. Typically, I would get customers coming and going, running out of the house to received parcels from Poslaju , answering calls and chasing after my tailors, swapping delivery schedule, checking/updating my blog,  so on so forth in between the chaos…… You see some people have to join a gym/yoga classes while I get to be home and stay active all day long… What a wonderful feeling.

this is just a tip of the iceberg

reuse every single clear glass jar

empty bottles are becoming a rare commodity in my household

Fluffy steamy Chelsea Buns.......

Cinnamon rolls switch up……
I was unable to update my blog this couple of days due to ‘blogger is currently unavailable’, whatever they mean by it.. Some kind of interruption in service, I don’t understand it at all, so finally it’s back on. Immediately, I am back to work…..
I am making cinnamon rolls for tea today (technically 2 days ago). This time I added raisins as filling instead of just sugar and cinnamon powder. The rest of the process remains the same except a switch up in the filling. It was so fluffy and disappears the moment I take them out of the oven. I serve them with hot lavender tea given to me by sister from her last visit to Cameron Highland. I wish you could smell them. So heavenly good…. Some people called them as Chelsea Buns, check out my cinnamon roll recipe posted earlier if you want to try it out…

Fluffy Steamy Cinnamon Rolls- Part 2.....

The Joy of Baking Cinnamon Rolls
Welcome again.. So here is the recipe for my fluffy steamy cinnamon rolls, the ingredients are:-
  • 4 cups of bread flour/ unbleached flour/high protein flour
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 tspn salt
  • 1 tbspn dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of luke warm water

Mix everything together in a large bowl, knead for 5 minutes until it form a ball, then rest it for about 8-12 hrs (I usually do it in the morning for baking in the late afternoon).
The dough will double in size and large bubbles will appear all over. Roll the dough on a well floured top into a rectangle shape. Brush with 2 tbsp of melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar (mix 2 tsp cinnamon power with 3 tbspn brown sugar). Roll it and seal both end by pinching it inwards. Cut it about 2’’ thick or however you like, place them in the baking tray with pinwheel shape facing upwards, rest them for 30 minutes or until they double again.
Preheat oven at dial no 7 or 220 degree Celsius, bake for just about 7-10 minutes. Sprinkle with icing sugar the moment you take it out of the oven, and then ready to serve. Enjoy them with family and friends… Delicious….

I prefer the unbleached wheat flour for nutrition

The Joy of baking Cinnamon Rolls.....

The Fluffy Steamy Cinnamon Rolls
Baking at home can bring enormous amount of joy not just to you but also to your family and friends. I find it rather soothing and soul searching experience when I am baking. One of my family’s much-loved treat is the Cinnamon Rolls. They get hooked by the aroma of freshly baked rolls the moment they step into the house. Words just don’t do justice when it comes to describing the scent, what a delight to come home to.
I much prefer the classic pinwheel cinnamon rolls as against the braided version; with a generous amount of cinnamon powder and rich sprinkle of sugar on top (such a tantalizing treat to just about anyone). And sometime I would switch it up by adding dried fruits, nuts or chocolate chips. Other time I would add another layer of spice like a pinch of nutmeg to enhance while not overpowering the cinnamon flavour at all. A small pinch of nutmeg really does go a long way. So, today I am showing you my family’s ultimate must have treat, the fluffy steamy cinnamon rolls. Do keep track of the recipe/tips on cinnamon rolls soon…

Hello...

I was gone for a while but now I am back for good. Juggling time between managing a store, spending quality times with my family and nurturing my passion for beading, cooking and reading has been a real challenge. I have finally made up my mind and decided to discontinue with my 15 years lease and forgo my store along with my  full time job in order to pursue/ fulfill my dream. It felt like I was walking into the unknown with nothing to fall back onto. Did I make the right choice? Am I out of my mind? Are you nuts? Those are questions that keep on popping in my head. You see....I was very skeptical at the beginning and doubtful that I made the right choice but not too long afterwards..... I feel LIBERATED.....
With a new found freedom, and with the world is my oyster attitude...I am now able to priorities my life, straighted up my goals and put my future in prospective.... If anyone asks me "Any regrets?" I would answer "No!!!!!!!!!!" with a broad smile on my face because I really have no regrets what so ever.
I am planning on devoting my full attention in managing my blog in order to reach out to as many bead lovers and just about anyone as possible.
Now lets start over by saying hello... so HELLO.....and WELCOME......
